STEP FORWARD is an exciting collaboration between SRM Theatre Company and The Watershed, creating opportunities for writers, actors and musicians to develop, share and perform new work.
Each event brings together a collection of original scripts, poetry, comedy and songs, celebrating creativity and giving new writing a platform. With a different theme for every event, STEP FORWARD offers audiences an eclectic evening of performance and gives creative people the opportunity to see their work come to life.
Previous themes have included Choices, Seasons, Secrets and Lies and Common Ground.
STEP FORWARD welcomes anyone interested in being part of the event, whether you’re a writer, actor or musician.
It’s an opportunity to try out new ideas, develop your creative skills, collaborate with others and share your work in a supportive environment. Whether you’re an experienced performer or exploring your creativity for the first time, STEP FORWARD offers a space to take that next step.
A call for scripts, poems and songs is announced around three months before each event. Opportunities are shared through STEP FORWARD evenings, the SRM Theatre Company and The Watershed websites, social media and word of mouth.
Once the submission deadline has passed, selected writers have six weeks to work with performers and bring their pieces to life ready for the event.
With three events each year and a new theme each time, there’s always something different to look forward to.
